Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes seven countries and many offshore islands. The narrowest part of The Americas, Central America is the site of the Panama Canal as well as the proposed, but never-completed Nicaragua Canal.

The Caribbean or the West Indies, is a group of islands and countries which are in or border the Caribbean Sea which lies on the Caribbean Plate. They are organized into 25 territories including sovereign states, overseas departments, and dependencies.
